Katadyn Pocket On Sale Available Now Finally, after waiting for what seems like ages, I have received the shipment of Katadyn Pocket Microfilters I’ve been waiting for. I literally had to race to meet up with a UPS truck. And as promised, I am announcing right now a three day Super Sale at 20% off (or while supplies last). This sale ends Sunday, June 19, 2011 at midnight so don’t put off getting a Pocket for the unbelievable price of $255.95.
It is unlikely you will find a brand new Katadyn Pocket micro water filter available for less than this anywhere on the web.

The Katadyn Pocket has been steadily increasing in price.
Distributors like Highwater Filters are obligated to sell all Katadyn products at the manufacturers set retail price, unless we want to risk the chance that the North American headquarters will refuse to sell to us. The only morsel of consolation is that we are permitted to have occasional sales on their products. So here is one of the best sales I have ever offered!

Feel free to contact me for more information, but please check out the Highwater Store first to find out details.

Sorry, as a US vendor, I am NOT permitted to sell outside of the US, unless it’s to an APO. Thanks for your understanding.

Setsuden: Japanese innovation helps country to conserve energy.

Leave it to the Japanese. When adversity rears its ugly claws, they dig in their heels. A big campaign to save energy is underway and as the summer approaches there are innovative new products on the market to help beat the heat. As air conditioning is turned off, escalators and elevators stationary, and lights dimmed, the people are meeting the challenge head on.

The term setsuden is Japanese for “energy conservation”. After the tragic events following the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan, it is logical that with diminished electrical generation and costly alternatives, conservation is the best way to solve the problem. I was just saying the other day that the answer to the world’s energy crisis might lie with Japan. All we need to do is to follow in their footsteps.

Conservation is the single most effective and efficient way to combat our increasing energy dilemma. I’ve been preaching this for years. If we in the U.S. could cut our consumption in half, we’d still be about equal to what the Japanese per capita consumption rate was before the disaster. We have plenty of room for improvement.

The world can greatly benefit by following Japan’s lead and creating a world-wide campaign of setsuden.

Katadyn Pockets in stock soon and on sale! Combis marked down.

Stop by our Grand Opening Sale at our new Highwater Filters storefront and get 20% Off the entire store! Pockets marked down to $279.96!

Update June 16. 8:30 pm pst: I am disappointed to say that the order due today failed to reach its destination. I went to UPS and inquired. They don’t know why it didn’t but told me it will probably be here tomorrow. So we wait another day…

Thanks for your patience!

Update: June 16. The Pockets are scheduled to arrive today! I just got off the phone with Katadyn and they checked the tracking and the shipment is due sometime today. I am going to wait until they arrive to take orders. Check back or email me for a notification to be sent immediately upon delivery. Thanks for your patience!

I am so excited. Not only is summer officially less than two weeks away, but I have a huge shipment of Katadyn Pocket water filters on their way from Minnesota. I expect to have them delivered by early next week and I plan to celebrate by marking them down to a rock bottom price for a very limited time.

Check back here to find out when this flash sale will take place. I am thinking of a number….

How about 20% off? This will be a three day sale starting as soon as the shipment arrives. For 3 days, or until supplies last, I will sell the Pockets for $255.95. I think that’s the lowest we’ve ever sold them for.

I have also just received an order of Katadyn Combis, which are like the little cousin of the Pocket. A very good pump filter at about half the price. I have the blue model, which is the same as the black Combi, except for the color. I’ve marked them down to $159.95 for a limited time only.
Although summer is almost upon us, it’s still very chilly here in Eastern Washington state. As soon as it warms up to beach weather, I will be announcing a Super Summer Store-wide Sale, so keep checking back.

If you’d like to be notified as soon as our sales are announced, send an email to info@highwaterfilters.com and I’ll put you on the notification list.

Make sure you check our other great water treatment products at our Highwater Filters store.

Thanks for stopping by!

EPA wants more analysis on Keystone oil sands pipeline

Acknowledging significant concerns for the proposed Keystone oil sands pipeline, EPA enforcement officer Cynthia Giles wrote this week to State Department officials to request further analysis of environmental and health impacts of the $7 billion project. The pipeline would transport oil sands crude from Alberta, Canada down to Gulf Coast refineries in Oklahoma and Texas.

Referencing numerous spills (12) from the existing Keystone I pipeline last year, including an 800,000 gallon spill that contaminated the Kalamazoo River in Michigan, Ms. Giles pointed to a number of concerns that must be addressed before any progress can be made in approving the project.

The letter comes just days after the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued an order preventing TransCanada from restarting the Keystone I tar sands oil pipeline until the agency is convinced it is safe.

This pipeline should never be approved. Not only is oil sands crude extraction an extremely dirty and inefficient method of energy production, it is a leading green house gas producer. It also produces huge quantities of contaminated water.

The risks to the environment and to the health of those exposed to accidents are not worth the limited source of oil that could be provided for American consumption.

We can do better than supporting Canadian production of dirty oil sands crude. It appears that the EPA may be concerned enough to put a stopper in this project. If reason prevails, it will be cemented in place permanently.

I sure hope so.

Highest radiation levels to date at Fukushima

In a devastating blow to the people of Japan, Tepco announced today that the highest readings yet (up to 4,000 millisieverts per hour at reactor No. 1) were recorded inside the Fukushima reactor. This announcement comes on the heals of visible steam escaping from the plant recorded on video.

To make matters worse, rains threaten efforts to install new decontamination equipment in the plant. Workers are currently racing to install the new equipment by June 15, but impending heavy rains threaten to cause the radioactive water inside the plant to overflow, potentially causing considerable damage. Tepco has warned that heavy rain could cause the overflow by June 20th, or possibly sooner.

Rain is expected tonight and throughout the oncoming week in the Fukushima area. Let’s hope it doesn’t amount to as much as the forecasters fear.

Highwater Filters is still offering free shipping on TRAP radiation filters and housings for people living in Japan. We recognize the immediate need to make your drinking water safe. We make this small gesture for the many people in Japan who are facing very troubling times. Please email us at info@highwaterfilters.com to receive a discount code for free shipping to Japan.

I am starting to look into a good organization that could help to provide TRAP filters to people who are without the means to purchase a filtering system. I have pledged 10% of the purchase price of the TRAP radiation bundles of a single housing and 3 TRAP filters to make this happen. See here or here for details.
